CAT Offers FREE and Accessible Continuing Education Event for Problem Gambling Disorder

Monday March 31, 2025

CINCINNATI, March 31, 2025 – Center for Addiction Treatment (CAT) is excited to announce they will be hosting Problem Gambling Continuing Education (CE) Day, a free instructional event for professionals and students led by Problem Gambling Coalition of Southwest Ohio (PGCSWO), taking place on Friday, April 11th at CAT’s 834 Ezzard Charles Drive campus.

PGCSWO will be collaborating with CAT to provide licensed professionals and students working in the chemical dependency, social work, and counseling fields the flexibility to attend this no-cost event in-person or virtually, ensuring streamlined entry for those seeking to expand their knowledge and awareness of gambling addiction, known officially as problem gambling disorder. By expanding collective understanding amongst current and incoming care providers, this initiative aims to prevent long-term effects of problem gambling and ensure professionals are equipped to provide the community with life-saving treatment.

Attendees will explore networking and educational opportunities such as the Intersection of Mental Health and Gambling Disorder workshop presented by the event Chair, CAT’S VP of Clinical, Rachel Johnson, PhD, MS, LPCC-S. As the Chair of the Problem Gambling Coalition of Southwest Ohio and one of just five graduates selected state-wide for the Problem Gambling Network of Ohio’s 2022 Ohio Problem Gambling Treatment Fellowship class, Dr. Johnson’s background will leverage her extensive background to keynote the Problem Gambling CE Day.

“With more awareness and resources, we can help reduce the potential devastation,” stated CAT’s seasoned problem gambling professional, Rachel Johnson, PhD, MS, LPCC-S (pictured).

CAT’s doors open for check-in at 8:00 AM on April 11th. Lunch and refreshments will be provided at no cost; register here for in-person or here for virtual. Please note that due to limited in-person spots, those who prefer to attend in-person must register by April 7th.
