CAT To Eliminate 37,000+ Pounds of Waste Through Latest Grant Awarding

Tuesday May 21, 2024

CINCINNATI, May 21, 2024 – Center for Addiction Treatment (CAT) has been awarded a $15,000 Waste Reduction Innovation Grant from Hamilton County R3source to magnify the organization’s ever-evolving sustainability initiatives. Beginning this summer, CAT will utilize the funding to minimize agency paper towel and disposable cup waste while simultaneously equipping patients with necessary knowledge and tools to improve the community’s environmental footprint. CAT’s awardee status reflects the nonprofit’s long-standing commitment to giving back to the Greater Cincinnati population, contributing to an eco-friendly environment for patients, staff, and local residents.

Goaled for completion August 31st, the implementation of grant-backed efforts is projected to eliminate 20,000+ pounds of paper towels and 17,000+ pounds of disposable cups over the course of the next five years. The initiative will entail a wide scope of waste reduction tactics, including the installation of water bottle fill stations, hardwired hand dryers, and seven plug-in hand dryers, alongside providing each Inpatient client with reusable water bottles. Not only will this contribute to the organization’s ongoing green campus efforts, but it will also encourage and prepare patients to continue protecting the environment long after the completion of their programming.

“Reducing waste and being environmentally conscious has always been an organizational priority at CAT. With numerous Inpatients and Outpatient clients, loved ones, staff, and visitors coming through our doors on an annual basis, this grant will help us reduce waste substantially,” shares Patti L. Webb, President and CEO.

CAT is honored to be collaborating to bring this vision to fruition through the support of grantor Hamilton County R3source, an entity dedicated to amplifying waste reduction, recycling, and reuse programs for the Hamilton County community.
