Center for Addiction Treatment Announces Haircuts Over Heroin Fundraising Event

Monday May 3, 2021

CINCINNATI, May 3, 2021 – Center for Addiction Treatment is to be gifted all donations from the Haircuts Over Heroin Tri-State area memorial fundraising event, April 25th to May 30th.

Haircuts Over Heroin was founded in 2021 with the mission to help CAT save lives and connect the community through a new avenue in addiction recovery fundraising: free salon services in exchange for donations. In memory of the late Whit, Justine, Simon and Brandie, and their shared connection to hair, loved ones Memrie Harness and Korbin Gray conceived of this event.  Cecily Harness, Whit’s stepmother,  helped make it happen. She says, “Stylists are influencers.  We believe in their ability to raise awareness of the recovery cause, to educate the persons in their chairs by sharing stories and helping to save lives in the process.”

“Overdose.  Death. The devastating loss of a loved one. It doesn’t have to mean a life sentence of grief and regret for we who remain. Not when little acts of selflessness can go such a long way,” said Bob Harness, the late Whit’s father and one of the Haircuts Over Heroin organizers.

The Haircuts Over Heroin fundraiser has set an initial goal of $5,000. To donate and receive an e-ticket for a chance to win a free salon or spa service, please visit the Center for Addiction Treatment Facebook page and click “Haircuts Over Heroin,” located within the “fundraisers” section of the “more” tab. Donations may also be made directly to Center for Addiction Treatment, where we ask that you please note that it is intended for Haircuts Over Heroin in the “make a dedication” section.
