Communications Internship Program at Center for Addiction Treatment
Named Area’s Best by University of Cincinnati
UC Communications Department bestows prestigious honor at April 10 event
CINCINNATI (April 10, 2019) – The University of Cincinnati Department of Communications has selected the communications internship program at the Center for Addiction Treatment (CAT) to receive its Internship Site of the Year Award 2019.
The CAT program will be honored at an April 10 ceremony for its excellence in providing rewarding work and life experiences for interns.
CAT, a non-profit facility located near downtown, is one of Cincinnati’s longest operating addiction treatment centers. CAT communications internships provide college students an up-close look at the creation of various communications vehicles of treatment centers, plus hands-on experience and a valuable opportunity to determine if a career in non-profit communications is the right fit.
“Our program is a real confidence-builder for our interns,” said CAT Development Manager Nancy Blamer, who directs the intern curriculum. “We’re looking for candidates who don’t require a lot of hand holding, they just go figure it out,” she said. “In the end, our interns are well prepared to face future challenges.”
CAT will receive the internship award at CommCeleb 2019, an annual celebration of faculty, staff, students and alumni. Festivities will be held, beginning with a Happy Hour at 5 PM, at Mick & Mack’s. Mick & Mack’s is located on the UC campus in the Tangeman University Center.
